The beginning of METS was the result of a decision-making process by JDTA members since the computer industry became a major feature. JDTA members agreed to hold an exhibition dedicated to the information and communication technology sector every year.

The first exhibition specialized in the information technology sector was held in 1989 in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality, and the majority of the members of the association participated in it. Since then, the exhibition has been held annually with continuous growth related to the development of industry in the information and communication technology sector.
